I was so lucky to be assigned a bed on the third floor. You can’t book them.
We called it the penthouse. All single beds but still in a cubicle. Clean, calm - nice showers.
Amazing old building totally renovated.
And then you are meeting again all the people you met walking up that mountain.

Huge old building but renovated interior, including bathrooms, also has a lift and a laundry. Run by Dutch volunteers. There are probably enough beds to not NEED a booking but I'd still recommend, the check in process is a lot smoother if you have pre booked. Beds are two bunk beds to a cubicle, the power plug in my "room" was dodgy so my phone didn't charge right. Pretty good value for what it is. Breakfast sells out so make sure you order that when you book

It is 15€ plus 7€ VAT each.
The people (whom I believe are volunteers) working here were lovely.
The donkey service was easy to access - the albergue basically sets it up for you, just write on the form and put in the money (which is only 7€ per bag.)
The beds are in bunks of 2 to a cube, sleeping 4 people per cubical. We were given a disposable bed sheet for the mattress, a pillow and a disposable pillow cover as well. You will need your own blankets, however I only have a sleeping bag liner which was warm enough with long sleeves on. The bed was reasonably comfortable, and I had a decent night sleep after a very long day.
I didn’t opt in for the pilgrims dinner menu because I do not eat fish, so I cannot comment on that unfortunately. However, the breakfast menu looked nice, I just don’t eat that early and made my own provisions at the supermercado in the next town.
There are 3 restaurants in the town open for dinner service after 1900. My recommendation would definitely be to book in advance! If you’re staying in Roncesvalles, you NEED to have dinner reservations booked or you might struggle to find food after a long hard days walk, when all you want to do is eat, shower, and sleep. There are only three dinner restaurant options, at the other accomodations from the pilgrim refugio, no supermercado or anything like that, and it was very hard to just walk in and find some food anywhere. Check out Google and find a menu you like, and book your dinner alongside your accomodation before you arrive. Buen Camino! All the best everyone :) hope this helps!

good warm room with 6 stock beds, 12 € only, Pilgrims menu (14€) and breakfest (6€) in this time of the year in Casa Sabina

We weren’t sure we were going to leave Roncesvalles today. So yesterday we went to the monastery to ask if we could stay on our way back from SJPdP to Santiago and Santiago to SJPdP and were told the monastery is only for pilgrims going to Santiago de Compostela. And we said well we went to Santiago and now are at the end of our journey and want to stay tomorrow. No was the answer it’s only for pilgrims. My definition of a pilgrimage is a journey of thoughtful intention with an unknown outcome.

Very clean and organized. You don’t feel like you’re in a place with 200 beds. Laundry facility is excellent. Make sure you have an eye mask and ear plugs.

You can book this albergue online in advance and I highly recommend it.
The check in takes some time. The Dutch volunteer Hospitaleros are efficient and nice.
The beds are very clean and verkaufe the Bunk beds are arranged in like cubicles of 4 beds it does not feel like you share a dorm with 80 people.
The pilgrims mass was a nice experience.
They have a washing service and a hand wash station with a manual dryer that you can use for free.
Dinner was ok but not great.
Breakfast was nice with cake, toast, cheese and ham, orange juice and jam

A great place to stay. It wasn’t full so plenty of quiet time. The Hospitaleros couldn’t do enough for you especially the laundry volunteers. Nothing is too much for all of them in helping you. 2nd time I stayed there and it’s a really nice experience. Waking up to music at 6:00am was lovely too.

The woman who checked us in was the most uncaring and inhospitable Hospitalera - completely inflexible and unwelcoming. No sympathy for people on the verge of hypothermia. She’s in the wrong job. Laundry service was amazing and food ok.You need a good breakfast to fortify you for the slippery and dangerous descent into Zubiri. Don’t believe the km signs. When it is wet and muddy the last section is scary.
