The hosts were welcoming and friendly, the dinner was delicious and we went out to watch a beautiful sunset. But in the night I found two bed bugs in my bed. The mattresses are covered in plastik, but the old wooden bunk beds are a paradise for bed bugs to hide in. I told the hosts but they didn’t really care. This whole Albergue seemed to be a bit dirty and neglected. Avoid!

I believe there are political issues happening in El Acebo. I was disappointed that it was closed. They are having problems getting hospitalaros , and seem to be open only every second week. Also not allowed to cook communal dinner apparently because local restaurants complain. Or something like that. Bummer

The albergue is definitely open as of May 31, 2025.

I agree with the review from April 2025. Recommended for pilgrims seeking a traditional Camino experience.

When I arrived in el acebo in May 2025, there was a sign outside that said “cerrado hasta nuevo aviso”

I can confirm there are no bed bugs, the mattresses have the plastic covers so they cannot be in the beds.
There is no communal meal which is a shame, but breakfast of toast and coffee is provided to send you on your way, And the restaurant at another albergue a minute away is good. A very good burger, fries and a beer for 12 euro or the 3 course meal with wine or beer for 15 euro. And with 5 good choices for every course so better than most pilgrims menus. Nice hospitalieero who took us to watch the sunset over the mountains. Which is the best bit of the stay

Stayed here last night. Hospitalero was very sweet and helped me out with some new blisters I had. However- this morning I woke up with a bite on my arm and some pilgrims on the trail told me they had found bed bugs.

DO NOT STAY HERE. We saw a review saying there were be bugs, so we asked the hospitalero. Not only did he say there were no beg bugs, he got angry at us for asking and told us it was insulting and we could stay elsewhere if we wanted. He said "would it be open if there were bed bugs??" Later in the evening a pilgrim found bed bugs! She also said that it was clear that he had tried to prevent them using powder. So it seems he lied to us. At least he gave us our €5 back...

Camino de Sant…

I loved this albergue, it's small and there was one hospitalero who was funny and friendly. We cooked and ate dinner together, it's a lovely community atmosphere.

Camino de Sant…

This is a really nice hostel. Dorms are wooden and sectioned off so it doesn’t feel like one big room. You have to leave your large backpack downstairs which really isn’t a problem. Mattresses are good, shower is powerful and there is a large garden for clothes hanging, relaxing, etc. Breakfast and dinner are included. WiFi is strong.

Camino de Sant…

The donativo is open, I stayed here on 11th of september 2020. Because of the covid there can be served no breakfast or dinner. The place was Nice and clean. The hospitalero was helpful.
