Ten en cuenta que el albergue está en realidad en Bendueños, a 1,5 km cuesta arriba. Normalmente Sandra está dispuesta a ir en coche a recogerte, pero a partir de mayo de 2022 sus problemas con el coche podrían hacerlo imposible. En cualquier caso, llámala antes de llegar... preferiblemente el día anterior.

Si eres como yo y realmente disfrutas ir a un donativo y donar tanto como esperarías pagar por una cama en un albergue municipal y una cena aparte, entonces obtendrás gratis una experiencia reconfortante y una noche especial. Intento alojarme en donativos dondequiera que pueda simplemente porque el cuidado y el corazón del anfitrión son increíblemente inspiradores cada vez. ¡Definitivamente vale la pena el camino solo por las vistas!

El albergue y Sandra realmente merecen una visita. Pero como ya comentó alguien más: Si no entiendes el concepto del donativo y esperas un hotel o sientes que tienes derecho a algo - aléjate y paga una habitación de hotel en otro lugar. Sin embargo, si estás agradecido de que alguien cuide un lugar así sin remuneración, incluso te prepare una comida y te dé una acogida cálida, entonces ven y dona lo que consideres responsable y asequible.

Well worth the stop. The hospitalera said that in recent times she’d encountered a few people who weren’t happy - I’m guessing they’d previously stayed in private accommodation and hotels. So here’s what you get, to clear up expectations:

1) a decent bed for the night
2) a fridge stocked with drinks, plus bottled water and wine
3) bread, butter, jam, fruit, biscuits/cookies etc, tea, coffee and herbal teas as much as you’d like (there was even Yorkshire tea)
4) we received two “family” style meals - home cooked food. Simple but tasty.
5) washing machine (I used the extra spin cycle to ensure everything dried)

Better than most of the municipals, but obviously not up to the standards of a hotel and a restaurant meal! The most important thing was the amazing welcome.

When leaving Herias you climb a hill leaving the village. Be very careful after about 200m there is a very small opening on your right, which isn't very clearly marked. This is the way to Campomanes, down a very steep descent.
