Castro Marim ist eine angenehme Stadt mit einer Burg aus dem 13. Jahrhundert, einer jüngeren militärischen Festung und einer restaurierten Windmühle.

Wegbeschreibung

Beim Verlassen der Stadt ist ein alternativer Weg, der zu einem unbefestigten Pfad zwischen Kiefern wird und schöne Ausblicke auf die Landschaft bietet, dem offiziellen Camino vorzuziehen. Er wird mit dem Wanderweg GR15 geteilt, also achte auf die rot-weiß gestreiften Markierungen.

Just to note that if you follow the path marked on the app, there is a dearth of yellow arrows as you leave Castro Marim. If you follow the red and white GR markers however you come to Monte Francisco and the yellow arrows reappear.

Well worth a short detour to the castle at Castro Marim. Only €1.10 entry. There is a church dedicated to Santiago inside the castle walls and there is a view over to Spain.
