I have just (04/03/2025) received a reply from the owner confirming that this albergue is closed.

There was no response to.either calling or messaging on WhatsApp the day before. ( apart from.a lady who apparently used to run the albergue, but no longer does).
On arrival rang the bell, rang the number, msg again...no reply at all. Locals whom I asked did not have a solution. A kindl
y gentleman from.another accommodation up the road phoned El Cuartel for me and I found a bed....actually a room! Anna there could not have been more helpful or hospitable.

I had a place in a somewhat more private section right on top to the right. I cannot describe how badly I passed the night- I cried after some time and at midnight went to search for any other empty place. Luckily there was one. Please renew mattresses and bedsprings every once in a while. Like this even the 10€ is definitely too much.
The other good comments I share.

June 2024
I had previously stayed 10 years ago at Sonrisa when it was a donativo.

The Albergue is quite simple and adequate & 2024 a fee based €8 or €10 per night with shared bathrooms. The cafe owner runs theAlbergue and his family assist in Registering .
meals are available at the cafe but not at the Albergue .
It’s simple and homely with a combination of rooms and beds. It has a homely feel & charm

This is now ran by the bar. It is 8 euro for bed with a sheet and pillow, plus a towel. There is no facilities to cook or eat there, you must go back down to the bar for food.

Warmly welcomed by Esther, who gave us a tiny private room off the main sleeping area for the same price. Bathrooms were cramped and we had to wait to use them, but not a problem. Sweet garden area. Lovely evening meal and shared experience.

Albergue de las sunrises is clean, simple, and very comfortable. We’re divided into several rooms so it even feels somewhat private when it’s not full.
David, the host, offered a simple breakfast with coffee and bread. He prepared a yummy, vegetarian dinner of nicely flavored lentils, pasta, a potato and cake concoction, a small salad, cookies from the bakery next door, and wonderful mint, lemon-flavored water. All the food is included in the cost.
It’s quiet. I would definitely stay here again.

We were welcomed very warmly by Laura. The home is very rustic and quaint. No bunk beds which was a definite plus. The garden was lovely on a sunny day. Washed clothes in the garden sink and hung everything on the provided racks and line. The dinner was nicely prepared and we all shared in the meal. Downside was no hot water in the shower, very little toilet paper and it ran out quickly. All the shops were closed or would have run out and purchased it myself. If you are not looking for high end accommodations and are alright with simple this place is fine for the night.
