History

Udgravninger i det omkringliggende område har fundet spor af en romersk bosættelse; en 2000 år gammel milaro er bevaret i Iglesia de San Román, og vejen ud af byen går over en romersk bro.

Vi ankom her våde og forfrysede, og er absolut begejstrede for Casa Maralotx. Juan gør alt nemt, fra ind-check til wifi-adgang, og faciliteter er fantastiske: tagterrasse med tøjsnore og udsigt til kirken overfor, med varm-drikke-automat og picnicborde. Vi har et privat værelse, så jeg kan ikke tale om sovesalene, men vores værelse har alt, hvad vi har brug for, og charmerende detaljer: velkomstsjokolader, kaffe/te (og bittesmå chokoladechip-muffins i kopperne 😊). Vi giver os selv luksus og får vores snavsede tøj vasket og tørret, fordi alt føles fugtigt efter at have været på det uopvarmede albergue i nat efter en regnfuld dag. Vi kunne ikke være mere tilfredse med Casa Maralotx!

Dette albergue er nu åbent. Jeg overnattet her i august og det er et fantastisk lille sted i en smuk historisk by. Pilgrimsmiddag, morgenmad og vaskeservice (både vaskemaskine og håndvask) til rådighed. Helt sikkert værd at besøge og det eneste alternativ mellem Puenta La Reina-Gares og Lorca.

Amazing hospitality by Juan and his wife. Outstanding pilgrims dinner in the “cave” of the Albergue. Cute little “bar area” in reception. Patio “hang out” on second floor. Never a line for showers or toilets even though Albergue full. But don’t miss how beautiful the location is! At top of the hill in Ciriqui, right by the old church with its bells. The starling songs and views are magnificent. Just a great experience added to our Camino. Try to make a stop here

Juan, the hospitaliero, is great. The albergue is clean and spacious. Yes, there are not that many showers and toilets. However, the beds are more comfortable and less noisy than at any albergue so far.
The communal dinner was delicious (salad with apple und walnuts; chickpea and mushroom stew; vanilla pudding) and definitely not your usual pilgrims dinner.
Definitely worth a stay!

Juan looked after us from the first moment we walked in with serious blisters! Everything was handled with enthusiasm and efficiency. Albergue spotless, chill out patio/deck really nice. Pilgrim Dinner absolutely superb and cap it all Juan rode his back on into town to make sure the patient was OK!

Juan was amazing! He did everything from checking us in, getting drinks and cooking our delicious pilgrims communal dinner in the cellar

Loved the Albergue. We had a great communal meal there. The bar is small but is a nice place to catch up with people we saw on the way.

Hey, winter pilgrims! Finally a small town with an open bar for your rest stop. Bar Sociedad San Lorenzo. can be found after the first long climb up the walkway in town. Near the top is a shell pointing left. There is also a sign showing "BAR" 10 meters to the right. Great friendly service and HOT cafe con leche.
